There are several compelling reasons why a foreign company would want to make it’s next investment in the Czech Republic.  The current flow of investment, productive and affordable labor, tied with essential investments in Information Technology make for an attractive Foreign Direct Investment location.

Looking Forward

With offices across the globe, CzechInvest has the opportunity to network with many prominent business leaders today.   CzechInvest can offer enticements such as their high population of trained engineers and scientists (second only to Germany in Europe), high number of average working hours per year, and a young, available labor force that is low wage.

Several barriers exist, though.  First, because the Czech people don’t understand joint ventures, CzechInvest must convince companies that foregoing a partner and investing alone is a better option.  Also, while the Czech people are highly skilled and educated as laborers, very few have all of the skills necessary to successfully manage companies. CzechInvest must overcome this barrier and convince companies to bring their own management teams who can train Czechs managers to lead. Additionally, CzechInvest must confront the changing culture in the Czech Republic concerning the environment.  Many European countries and companies are exerting pressure on the Czech Republic to enforce the environmental standards in place in other parts of Europe.

Despite these challenges, though, it is clear that The Ministry of Industry & Trade has created a valuable national asset in CzechInvest that will continue to draw FDI and growth to the Czech Republic.
